ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL TOURS
Some doubt is expressed by the council of the New Zealand Football Association that an English team of the right calibre can be secured to make a tour of New Zealand and Australia in any future year. The visits mads to England by Messrs. F. J. Courteney and B. L. Salmon were used to promote the question of a visit of an English team, and, together with the association's representative in London, Mr. A. E. Gibbs, both these delegates went carefully into th© question with the F.A. secretary, Mr. F. J. Wall. In order to secure a visit from England it would be necessary to finance the tour, and the New Zealand Council is not in a position to do this.
Associations who favour the visit of an English team must be prepared to find their share of the expense should such a visit eventuate. Ifc is mentioned that the F.A. has postponed further consideration *of a. visit to Australasia until their South. African tour is disposed oi. Further, the-F.A. considers that they must deal with the Commonwealth F.A. as fa:- as Australasia is concerned, and as tin's body has been, inactive during the war, a little time must elapse before the organisation is again on a business footing there.
A visit of a team from New South Wales will ■ have the immediate attention of the incoming council. The proposal to bo "considered is for a tour in 1921.
