CITY COUNCIL'S DECISIONS.
The greater part of tha Reserves Committee's report t^ tho City Council last evening dealt with the allocation of. grounds and other matters of interest to sports bodies in the city. The recommendation of the Director of Parks and Reserves for the' formation, at some future date, of a small low level sports ground in the gully in front of the Mount-street Cemetery, was approved. The council decided to call for tender' for painting work at the Te Aro Baths,, after the necessary repairs have been* effected by the City Engineer.' There was an echo of the recent unsuccessful carnival in the recommendation I of the committee .that tho shed at Lyall Bay, previously used by tha Lya.ll Bay ! Surf and Life-Saving Club as a clubroom, | bo again handed over to the Surf Club during the pleasure of the council for the I purpose of a, clubroom, in -connection with, their life-saving operations on the beach; and that the thanks of the council be extended to the club for their action in allowing tho shed to bo used- as ! a ladies' dressing shed during the period of the war. The recommendation i. as ] adopted. ). The Council decided' to adhere to the terms of the license granted by the lato Karori Borough Council to the Wellington Hockey Association for the 'use of playing grounds at the Karori Park, and that, should tho city solicitor consider it necessary, a new license should be prepared for the balance of the term granted by the late Karori Dorobgh Council. " The Thoradon Ladies' Croquet Club i» to be informed that the extension ,of Anderson Park is being provided for in the loan schedulo to be plated before the ratepayers. The committee reported that it had approved the suggestion 6i this City Engineer that the superstructure of the Thorndon Baths should be utilised for dressing-shed accommodation at Evana ' Bay. Plans and estimate of the cost are now being prepared in order that provision may be made for the work in the loan ticheduk". ■ The report of Mr.. A. Brewer, groundsman, as to tlie use of the Basin Reserve for practice and training for winter sports, recommended a continuation of the policy pursued last season—that is, no practice or training, the ground tobe kept for representative games only ac from 12th June. At-least six weeks was required for-top-dressing alone, and the young grass should get, a chance before game* uommoucod. The, report was adopted.
