MEETING OF CITY COUNCIL
DETAILS OF ADMINISTRATION.
The City Council met last evening, the.Mayor (Mr. J. P. Luke, M.P.) presiding. The council was represented by Councillors il. A. Wright, M.P., P. i'raser, M.P., J. Hutcheson, J. Glover, C. H. Chapman, J. M. Dale, J. 0. Shorland.'T. Storey tb, W. H. Bennett, W. J. Thompson, G. Frost, J. Burns, J. W. Henderson, and B. G. H. Burn. The last thvee are ex-members of the extinct Knrori Borough Council. . \ On the recommendation of the Finance Committee, it was decided that • Cook and Resolution streets be taken over as public streets, subject to requirements stipulated by the City Engineer. It was decided that provision be made on the estimates for repairs to Mac-farlane-street, estimated at £500; that tenders be invited for a motor-car for use by the Treasury Department, for payment of wages; that an. offer to sell to the council certain horees, drays, and equipment in the sum of £165 be accepted. : A remission of general rates was granted to the Star Boating Club and the Wellington Bowing Club. Annual grants were allotted as follow :—Workers' Educational Association, £100; Wellington Free Kindergarten Association, £100; Sailors' Friend Socioty, £5. " , The Tramways Department was authorised to place an order for a 3000 k.w. turbo-generator, and two water tube boilers. ' The committee reported that it had approved the dra-ft license prepared by the City Solicitor licensing dairy farmers producing milk in the city or within two miles of the city to sell milk in the city. • The report was approved. An application for permission to erect a motor garago at the end of the drainage reserve at Glasgow-street was refused. Permission was granted to a property owner -at Moorhouse-strcet, Wadestown, to encroach on -the road reservation, subject to the usual conditions. A proposal of the Wellington Harbour 'Board, with reference' to subdivision of land at Te Aro reclamation, involving a dedication by the Corporation of an area .approximately 13.6 perches, and the vesting in the Corporation b3 r the Har'oour Board of an area of 11.6 perches, was approved. ■ A request by the Wairarapa Farmers' Co-operative Association, Ltd., for per- I mission to erect a verandah at their premises, Lambton-quay, such' verandah to be supported by columns, in lieu of girders from the building, was refused.
