KOPANE ESTATE
A RECORD SALE. (IT TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.) FEILDING, 23rd March. What is' claimed to be a /record Jand' sale 'was held this afternoon in the Drill Hall. There was an attendance of over 600 from all parts of the West Coast. The bidding was keen. Lachlan M'Lean, of Feilding, sold his Kopane estate and two sections at Cheltenham, both close to Feilding and Kopane, where there is a soldier-settlement. The rich dairying land was cut up into 28 sections of from 24 to 48. acres. ' /' * . The sections sold in their .order at £151, £125, £154, £177, £151,' £121, £120, £107, £126, £123, £121, £110, £131, £127, £122, £131, £111, £88, £100, £78, £57,. £106, £113, £94, and £75 per acre. The .average was £114 10s per acre, and the total for Kopane was £104,886. Two dairying sections at Cheltenham of 270 and 238 acres respectively sold at £50 10s per acre. The total realised by the whole sale was £130,065. The cutting up of Kopane makes for closer settlement, indicated by the fact that there were 25 buyers for the 28 sections. Murray, Roberts, and Company, who conducted the sale, say it is the most successful ever held by them in JTew Zealand. ,
