THE WOOL CLIP

TO IHB. EDITOR. Sir, —While the facts mentioned in Mr. Herbert Page's letter, published in your issue of Tuesday, 23rd-. March, are alsolutely correct, nevertheless, the .letter is. calculated to create a. mistaken impression that the New Zealand Farmers' Co-opera-tive Distributing Company had made a statement that the cable had been sent by the Prime Minister at their suggestion. At the meeting in Pahnerston North (at which I was personally present), the general manager of the New Zealand Farmers' Cooperative Distributing Company stated distinctly, before reading the message, that it had been sent by the Prime Minister at the instance of the New Zealand Wool Brokers' Association, and he made no suggestion whatever that 'the company was responsible for the. message being sent. : When the report appeared in the papers stating (erroneously) that the telegram had been sent at.' the instance of the New Zealand Farmers' Co-op: Distributing Company, letters were sent to tho Dominion (in which the report first appeared), the New Zealand Times, and to the Press Associations asking that publicity should be given to the fact that it was not at the request of'this company that Mr. Massey cabled, but at the request of the New Zealand Wool Brok-' ers' Association. The correction, was made verbally your own paper prior to publication.—l am, etc., W. JACK, Assistant Genera] Manager, New Zealand Farmers' Co-operative Distributing Co., Ltd. '
