BOYS' INSTITUTE
The animal concert and prize-giving of the Wellington Boys' Institute and S. A. Rhodes' Home for Boys was held on Saturday evening, about 120 boys gathering in the social hall for the occasion, j Priur to the presentation, a short musical, programme was rendered by an efficient orchestra under the conductorship of Mr. Johns. The following also assisted': .Mrs. Ritchie, and Masters Seber and Banks. Several choruses well known to the boys were, sung with enthusiasm.. Mrs. Moorhouse presented the following trophies, won during 1919:—Athletic Champions: Junior oup and medal, Fred Tyson ; runner-up, W. M'lvor.' Intermediate cup and medal: R. Dutch.; run-ner-up, A. Osmond. Senior cup and medal: G. Conway; runnors-up, ]?. Wilson and S. J. Harding. N. Normdn,H". Hobsou, and S. Dempster' also won prizes- at the Labour Day Sports. Swimming: S. _ Dempster, A. Humphries. Cricket: First century for season, S Dempster (bat presented by the director, Mr. Inwood). Collecting campaigns: A. Ritson, Frank Tyson, and A. Blackett. Boy who. secured most members during ■ 1919: N. Teague, Ping-pong: L. M'Williams, A. Slohr, C. Cndby, B. Whitburn, *F. Hinchcliff, J. Banks, B. Dempsiftf, and J. Burke. Table croquet: H. Cummins, W Robinson, F. kelson, Q. Burton, L. 'J.'homeon, H. Greenfield, J. Banks', and W. NicolJe. Draughts : A. Siveraon und A. Osmond. Bagatelle: H. Cummins, L. Hawkins, and .7. Banks.
