Experts are of opinion that- Hoy.'ell lost his way, and that after hours 6f vain wandering he became desperate in his eagerness to find his position through the. clouds before his petrol gave out; or perhaps that he merely changed his route. It is more likely that he kept going in a series of great circles never far off the line, yet never knowing where. The opinion is expres'3'ecl that the machine took the water badly and crumpled up and sunk immediately. Probably the bodies were pinned in the wreckage;
