MR. W. D. POWDRELL.
Mr. W. D. Powdrell, new member for Patea, was born at Wairoa, Hawkes Bay, in 1872, and has resided in South Taranaki for forty-five years. He is a farmer, and has been chairman of the Kaupokonui Cheese Company for ten years and a director for sixteen years. He is also a. director of the Whenttakura Cheese Company; chairman and manager of the Patea Farmers' Cooperative Freezing Company for tenyears] advisory manager of the Whakatane (Bay of Pleuty) Fanners' Co-opera-tive Freezing Company; director of the Egmont Box Factory, New Zealand Rennet Company, New Zealand Farmers' Co-operative Meat Packing and Bacon Company, National Dairy Association (North Island), Taranaki Farmers' Mutual Fire Insurance Company, and the Taranaki Farmers' Cooperative Auctioneering Company. He is president of the Prohibition League (Te Kuiti to Wanganui). ■ He is one of the local valuers for the purchase of land for soldiers. Several times he was chairman of the New Zealand cheese producers to sell cheese to the Imperial Government. He was a Government nominee on the Efficiency Board.
