MR. O. HAWKEN.
Mr. 0. Hawken is a farmer and business man in Hawevn, and until he camo out to contest the Egmont seat for Reform, on the retirement of Mr C. A. Wilkinson, ha had not taken much part in public life. In this fight■ he ha» proved himself an able campaigner, with a thorough grasp of public questions..His greatest obstacle in the contest was the fact that he did not reside in the district, but a few miles 'over the boundary in Hawera, and this non-residence point was used against his candidature a good deal.
