COLONEL MITCHELL'S RECEPTION
Lieutenant-Colonel G. Mitchell, D.5.0., the newly-elected.member for Wellington South, -wag given a mixed reception, but nevertheless was able to make himself heard by the crowd at times. He said he appreciated the great honour the electors of Wellington South had done him that day. ."I thank them sincerely," he proceeded, "and I pvay to God that I will be worthy of that honour.1 (Cheers.) % think this great victory on my part has been due largely to the splendid workers wl» rallied round me, especially to the good work done by the Ladies' Committee. I hope that my opponent— and I am'sure he will—will take his defeat like a man., (Cheers.) Again I thank yon." (Cheers, succeeded by hooting by a.portion of the crow i!)
