(BY TBLECUAPH.—SPKCIA!, TO THE POST.) ' MASTER-ON. This Day. A most successful sale of sections in the Taua.nui estate of Mr. George Hume, in the Lower Valley, was held in Masterton on Saturday. " The prices ranged from £10 to £67 per acre. Every section offered was sold, and the total sum realised in the sale was £73,000. A poll is to be taken in Masterton on Thursday on the loan proposals, involving a sum of ov9r £70,000. At a- meeting of the Masterton A. and P. Association on Saturday, a warm tribute was paid to the memory of the late patron, Mr. John Strang. .The Rev. Mr. Tipler, who was seriously wounded in active service, was given a welcome home social in Carterton on Monday evening. Recent raiils have had a beneficent effect upon turnip and rape crops in the Wairarapa. In a. shield match, played on Saturday, the Featherston bowlers defeated the Park by five points. Carterton defeated Masterton in a similar match. Thirty-seven new members were elected at a meeting of tho Masterton A. and P. Association on Saturday. The 21st annivcrsaiy of St. Bride's Con-, vent, in Masterton, was celebrated today. Since its inception, 2000 pupils have passed through the school. Tho Ma.tertOJi A. and P. Association has at present a debit balance of ,£569 It.
