WAIAU RAILWAY
(»T TEUiGRAI'II.- 1-RESS ASSOCIATION.) ' CHRISTCHURCH, 15th December. The Waiau railway, commenced just before the outbreak o£ the war, was taken over by the Railways Department to-day, and a passenger service instituted. For over a year the line has been carrying goods traffic. The occasion was made one of rejoicing in Waiau, and a banquet was tendered to a large number of visitors from Christchurch and as far north as . Kaikoura.
