The ex-members of tho Zealandia Rifles, to the number of about 40, assembled at the Ajax rooms on Saturday evening, the occasion being a reunion of old members and a welcome home to those who had been serving ab/_?d. Ex-Colour-Sergeant Bunckenbu/g presided. The toast of "Fallen Comrades" was proposed by Mr. Smyth, who referred to the great pioneer work among the Senior Cadets performed by Captain Frandi.and Lieutenant Hugo, both of whom had been killed in action. Many of the old corps had -rone to the colours, and had won' theif commissions on the field of honour. Responses - were made by Messrs. Rankin, Petrie, Nimmo, Kelly, and Bascham, and ex-Colour-Sergcan+ Willis briefly recounted the history of the corps, which,' he stated, had every reason to be proud of its record of service, both in-the South African and the Great War. Musical and elocutionary items, interspersed with ancedotes from the different fronts, were included in an excellent programme. Mr Andrew Williams played the accompaniments. A small committee, of which Mr. W Smyth was secretary, was responsible for the pleasant manner in which the evening was spent. It is hoped that this reunion will be tho first of many that will be held in the future.
