STOCK SALE
Messrs.: Dalgety and Company,. Limited, report having held a most successful sale of stud Friesian, Red. Poll and Milking Shorthorn cattle on account of the Central Development Farm, Weraroa, on Thursday, 9th instant. ■ This important annual fixture usually draws many buyers from all parts of tho Dominion. This year the attendance was larger than usual and competition exceedingly keen from start, to finish of sale. ... Competition for the Milking Shorthorn and Red Poll bulls was exceptionally animated, and the demand at the end of the sale was unsatisfied. Tho Friesian bulls , were a little slower of sale, but good average prices were made. Much interest was centred in _ the offering of the Friesian cows and heifers. All the females offered were eagerly competed for and were distributed to "all part? of the Dominion. The highest price paid was 120 guineas for a yearling Red. Poll bull purchased on account of the Hon. R. H. Rhodes, Canterbury^ Principal sales were as under: — Friesian bulls, 67 gns, 60 gns,-37 gns, 34 pns, 31 ges; othere from 19 to 25 gns. Shorthorn bulls, 85 gns, 74 gns, 60 gns, 42i gns. Red Poll bulls, 120 gns, 80 gns, 52 gn3, 32£ gns. Friesian cows and heifers, 75 gns, 60 gns, 59 gna, 3 at 52 gns, 3 at 50 gns, .47 gns, 46 gns, 45 gns, 44 gns; others from 24 to 38 gns.
