MAGISTRATE'S COURT
Mr. E. Page, S.M., dealt with police cases at the Magistrate's Court this morning! Five first-offending inebriates were ordered to pay fines of 5s or to go to gaol for twenty-four hours, and another who did not appear was ordered to forfeit his bail (10s). Thomas Balmer and James Wilkinson, second offenders, were fined 10s, in default, forty-eight hours' imprisonment, on charges of drunkenness. 'Thomas Mylett, a third offender,- was ordered to pay a finu of 20s or to go to gaol for three days. Patrick Cooney was convicted and discharged for drunkenness, and was fined £3, in default, a week's imprisonment, for having broken his prohibition, order. He was also ordered to pay-17s 6d medical expenses. Thomas Blake was also convicted and discharged for drunkenness, and was fined £1, in default, .three days in the cells, for obtaining liquor during tho currency of his prohibition order. George Kaville, an old offender, was ordered to pay fines of 20s, in- default, forty-eight hours' imprisonment, for drunkenness, and £3, in default, a 'week in gaol, for having broken his prohibition order.
