A SMART CAPTURE

On Saturday last some £20 worth of blaukete belonging to the Government were stolen from a store at Wanganui, 'and the investigations threw suspicion on a man named Joseph George Abbott, who had, however, by that time sailed for Wellington'on the steamer -'Armagh.. Detective-Sergeant Hojlis at once communicated with the Wellington detective office, and the man was arrested by detective Carney soon after the vessel's arrival. Abbott was brought before Mr. E. Page, S.M.,'at the Magistrate's Court this morning, and was remanded to appear at Wanganui on the 9th inet. •
