MINING CONFERENCE

The committee of seven, including the Government representative, which was set up yesterday by the conference between the Mine Owners' Association and the Miners' Federation, met this morning to consider a basis for future discussion.- It was stated that a definite understanding had 'been arrived at. The committee was to have reported to the full conference, this afternoon, but it is understood that trouble which developed unexpectedly at one of the West Coast Mines caused some delay. It was expected that the conference would reassemble later in the afternoon.
