SAILORS' REST
The Sailors' Peace Festivities, 'organised by the British and Foreign Sailors' Society, were, continued and concluded in the rooms of1 the Naval Boating Club last night. [Parlour games, songs, Wd recitations, were indulged in, and a.very enjoyable evening was spent by the large number of sailors present. It was announced that the football match played on Kilbirnie Park during the day between sailors of the Shropshire and Port Pine had been won by those of the first-named vessel by five points to nil. The Shropshire men presented Mr. D. M'Callum, of the Sailors' Rest, with a handsomely framed picture of their vessel as a token, of appreciation of what he had done for the bailors in port during the past week. The sum of £2 14s, collected from the crew of the Shropshire by one of the men, was handed to the society as a donation towards the fund for furnishing the room at the Sailors' Rest, this gift being the outcome of their gratitude for the good time spent. Ringing cheers from, the sailors for the .ladyhelpers and all those whose- kindness had made their peace holidays so enjoyable, followed by the singing of "Auld1 Lang Syne," terminated the proceedings about 10.30 .p:r4;;.;:;v.:; ,"»":'IX~. ■ '.'
