The market, was firm, and there was good competition for all sorts at recent rates. The following prices were realised for New, Zealand clips:—H in diamond, top 43Jd, aver-' age 42d; Bemuera, top Slid, average 30£d. The Bradford tops market shows little change/ Prices are maintained. Hemp.—There is an improved tone in the flax market in consequence of inquiries from America. London is described as , indifferent: Australia is not taking any interest in the market at present. . ' y ' Copper and Brass,—John Dunn, Son, and Co., New fork, advise by cable a rise of 2d per pound in American copper and brass piping and sheets. Fonds in War Loan.—lnvestments of the Mutual life and Citizens' Assurance Company (which includes the Australian Widows' Fund) include £8,000,000 in Commonwealth Wat Loans. .
