CLOTHING TRADE CONFERENCE

FULL SETTLEMENT REACHED,

A full settlement was reached to-day at the conference between the employers and the clothing, trade workers' representatives. The hours of work were reduced from forty-five to forty-four a week, while journeywomen's wages were increased to £1 15s a week, and journeymen's to £3 13s 4d and £3 17s a week. Increases were also granted in respect to apprentices. The agreement is to b* made into an award to cover the whole Dominion, and is to come into operation on 12th. May. .
