NEW YEAR MAIL NOTICES.
On Tuesday, 31st December, correspondence addressed to "streets in the city and suburbs will be delivered from the Letter-carriers' Department (entrance upstairs from Featherston street at the Chief Post Office) from 8 to 9 p.m.; also the public delivery counter will be open for delivery of correspondence addressed to the Chief Post Office from Bto 9 p.m. Tlie parcel delivery counter will be open from 8 On Wednesday, Ist January (New Tear's Day) the Postal Department will be closed in all its branches. Mails for despatch by steamers sailing on New Year's Day will close at 8 p.m. on the previous day. The only despatches ol mails by trains on New Year"!) Day will close as follows:—For Wairarapa, Hawkes Bay, Manawatu, Kangitikei, Wanganui and Taranaki districts at 8 p.m., late fee midnight, previous day; for Auckland and Auckland district at 8 a.m. New Year's Day. The city and suburban street receivera will be cleared at 2 p.m. 'only. - The Chief Telegraph Office will observe the following hours on New Year's Day 0 a.m. to 4 p.ni.i and 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. The Telephone ■Exchange will be open continuously aa usual.
