The departure of the R.M.S. Makura from ■Auckland for Vancouver, via ports, has been postponed until the Bth January. The .E.JI.S. Niagara should reach Auckland tq-night or to-morrow from Vancouver.

■ 'Mr. S. Hewitt lyis signed on the ''jValpon as chief officer in place of Mr J. Artpleton. Mr. H. Williamson lias succeeded Mr. D. C-iineron as second officer, and Mr. S. Brown is vireless operator. While working on the Rosamond at Lyttelton a watersider, William James Chapman, 'was struck by a lifeboat which fell from the davits He was admitted ttf the Christchurch Hospital, where he died some days later.
The Monowai, which owing to the hold-up of the Maori at Lyttelton, had to relieve in the ferry service, is due back at Wellington tomorrow morning, and will sail at noon on Monday for Napier, Gisborne, and Auckland, The White Star liner Eunic arrived at Auckland shortly after 3 o'clock yesterday afternoon, iicluded in the passengers were the members of the French Mission. The Joan Craig left Greymouth early this Week for Sydney with a load of timber. After a run of 61 days from San Francisco Scales' barque Ysabel arrived at Auckland yesterday afternoon.
