LONDON, 11th October.

In Hyde Park yesterday ; afternoon some athletic sports took place under the auspices of the Ist Life Guards. The event of the day was the Mile Relay, open to H.M. Dominions and the Allies. In this New Zealand was represented by Sergeant Lindsay, Corporals Stone, Brien, and Mason, who defeated Canada and America. Johnson (Canada) held Lindsay all the way, and finished level at the cad of the first furlong. Kelly (Canada) was best away, but Stone passed him and sent Brien away with a lead of four yards. Winters pot Canada ahead again, but Mason had an easy journey in the half, winning by 15 yards, America another 25 yards away j time, 3min 46 2-Ssec.

A number of New Zealanders were in the Aldershot Command Rugby Fifteen in a match against the Royal Military College, Sandhurst, played at Camberley, the former winning by 23 points (one goal and six tries) to six points (one penalty goal and one try). New Zealanders on the winning sid« were: Sergeant Holmes, Gunners Waliey, Boswell, Cameron, Wittner, Hay, Dalton, M'Carlie (all N.Z.F.A.), Corporal Stohr and Private Sykes (N.Z.M.C.), and Private King (N.Z.A.P.C.). A fine bout of passing between Stohr, Sykes, and Holmes enabled the last narae'd to get in, but the kick a' goal took the ball just outside tie posts. A little later the Command again asserted itself, and with their three-quarters taking a strong hand in the' gam© they equalised with tho Cadets, and soon obtained the lead, which they maintained to the finish. In the second half the Aldershot men dominated the play, !3ykes quickly adding a couple of tries, but neither was converted. Waliey and Boswell' changed places and the former, getting the ball from Sykes,.completed a fine ran by crossing the Sandhurst line, but again this goal-kick failed. Just before the finish Holmes put 05 another try for the Command.

At a regatta at Putney a J lew days ago the filial of the Single ' Sculls (senior hea-yy-weights) was won by Hardy (N.Z.) with Thompson (E.A.F.) second, M'Phee (N.Z.) third, and London (Australia) fourth. Hardy got in by a length. Johnstons (N.Z.) was beaten in the Single Sculls (maiden heavy-weights) by Guthrie (Canada), by a length and a-fcalf. Hughes (Australia) and . MacGowao (N. 55.) won the Pair-oared Race (maiden light-weights), beating Morgan and Robinson (British Army) by tws lengths and a-half. ' f

The Aazaa crew, consisting of Hardy and M'Phee (N.Z.), Simes and Frankfconser (Aastralia), won the special Fouroared Racs, by two lengths, their opponents being the Bungalow crew, consisting of Britishers.
