Many a time the schools of Berlin and other German cities have,been closed ,for a . day in celebration of. a victory (real or faked). To-day it was the turn of young folk in the British' countries to have a half-day off for an extremely important victory, which recalls a, quotation which had a vogue in the early days of the war to. the effect that Britain! .(working with' the Allies) might lose battles for a; time, but would win the Avar. . 1 At noon, by request of the Education Board, children were assembled outside the schools, and the meaning of the news was explained to them. • After a soulstirring singing of the National Anthem, very happy boys and girls hurried home to talk the news with the grown-ups. .'ln order to mark the recent successes achieved by Great Britain and her Allies in the war, the Minister of-Education has jgiven. .instructions for arrangements to ibe made to'grant the public schools a whole holiday on Monday next.
