HAMILTON, 27th. September. In the semi-finals of the South Auckland golf tournament, I*. Seifert (Pal-, merston North) beat M. Wells (Cambridge), five up,and four to play, and R.. George (Maungakiekie) beat F. Seifert (Hamilton), 8-7. In the finals of. thirty-six holes, George ended 1 the first round in 18 two up, and in the second round increased his lead at the fifteenth hole to, 4 rap with three to play, thus •winning from L. Seifert. ■ \
Were adulteration the only evil cob\ nected with liquor, then State Control might make the Trade a safe thing. But while adulterated liquors, are doubtless worse than the so-called, "genuine stuff," yet the purest liquors contain the alcohol ■which is so clearly a menace to efficiency, 'moral control, character, and reliability. But undar State Control even 'adulteration is not necessarily absent. Government service has not always surpassed private' enterprise in afeguarding human welfare.
