AVIATION REPORT

BATTLEFIELD.

LONDON, 3rd September. Sir Douglas Haig's aviation report states that there was improved weather on Ist September. In spite of opposition pur aeroplanes maintained contact with ■ our advancing troops. Our lowflyers all day long bombed and machinegunned the retreating enemy,. causing heavy casualties and confusion. We heavily bombed tho bridges and railway connections in the enemy's back areas. We destroyed eight aeroplanes and drove down four out of control. We also set on fire six balloons! Eight British aeroplanes are missing. Our night-flyers heavily attacked an aerodrome at St. Quentm, and direct hits were- observed. One night-flyer has not returned. We dropped over 34 tons of bombs. Our anti-aircraft guns on Friday brought down one German night-bomher.
LONDON, 3rd September. The Air Ministry reports: Our aeroplanes on'the morning of 2nd September attacked the Bull aerodrome with very good results. Many direct hits were observed on the hangars, and a "hoßtile aeroplane on. the ground was destroyed. All the British machines returned.
