YON HINTZE AND PEACE
ENTENTE BLAMED FOR PROLONG-
ING THE WAR.
AMSTERDAM, 15th August. Dr. yon Hintze, German Minister of Foreign Affairs, in an interview with the Cologne Gazette, complained of the ambiguity of Mr. Lloyd George's war anniversary statement. He denied that tKo Central Powers had refused the Entente's proposals for a just and reasonable settlement half a year ago. On the contrary, the Imperialistic and warlike speeches of Entente politicians were responsible for the prolongation of the way. On the ot)ier hand, the Central Powers openly invited them to participate in the Brest-Litovsk Treaty. If tha Entente seriously desired to pave the way for peace they should have approached authorised persons.
