IMPORTANT FRENCH GAINS,
LONDON, 10th August, 2.30 a.m. A Fronch communique states : Our attacks on the Avro battle, front continued all day with increasing success. • Montdidier was outflanked on the east and north, and fell_ during, the morning. Continuing our victorious advance on the right of the British, we pushed on over six miles east of Montdidier on the An-dechy-La Boissiere-Fescamps front. Extending the action south-eastward, we attacked the German positions on the right and left of the St. Just-Roye roa<l
on a front of over twelve miles. We captured Rollot, Orvillers-Sorel, Kassons-sur-Matz, Conchy-les-Pots, Neuville-Eous-Eessons, and Elincourt, advancing over six miles at certain points. The French in three days' fighting have advanced over twelve miles along tho Amiens-Boye road, and captured over eight thousand prisoners. We have counted so far two hundred guns among the enormous quantity of material abandoned by tlift enemy.
