LABOUR'S VIEWS

SCHEME GENERALLY APPROVED

Generally, the new scheme adopted by the City Council meets with the approval of those interested in the Labqur movement in Wellington. If the scheme is efficiently managed it is thought that it will be a success. At any rate, it is recognised as a. decided advance on the present condition of things. One prominent unionist said: "Coming from a conservative City Council it is a surprisingly good scheme. We could not expect more —we did not expect as much—from such an auguet body." ■ The general scheme is very much on the lines of proposals made by the Trades and Labour Council when the clearing station met with its memorable failure at the beginning of the year.
