THE COUNCIL'S SHARE OF PROFITS

There is some misapprehension as to the council's share in the profits which, it is anticipated, will be made during the first two yea.rs that the scheme is in operation. The council will take,2£ per cent, only, which, it is anticipated, will work out at £5000 per anntim,- and not £10,000. The whole of the remaining profits will be divided among the vendors by way of compensation, or goodwill. There is no provision rm any Act which would enable the council to pay straight-out compensation, hence the idea of proportioning the profits. The Milk Committee made the proposal in fairness to the vendors who will ultimately, be put out of business.
