Private R. J. Marriner, of the Australian Field Ambulance in France, who lias been awarded the Military Medal, is a nephew of Mr. and ,Mrs. H. J. Marriner, of Christchurch. He is 23 years of age. Prior to onlisting he passed hie examinations as an' analytical chemist. While, working on the road in Courte-nay-place this morning, a man „ named William Cronfield, who. lives in Bridgestreet, Petone, fell and sustained a fracture of the right leg below the knee. Ho was removed to the Hospital, where he is doing as well as can bo expected. ' A benefit "social" in aid of a widow ' Mid five ohildren will bi» held in th« i Town Hall oat Friday evening next.
