THE NEW YORK MAIL.
PERJURY CHARGES DENIED.
NEW YORK, 11th July.
E. A. Rumely, whose paper is alleged to be owned- by tho German Government, but who swore it was owned by Americans, in a statement, said that the New York Mail materially supported the United States Government's war policies. He denied the perjury charges. More arrests are likely. 1
[Edward Aloysius Rumely, besides his connection with journalism '(on the business side only), is described as a manufacturer, and has been active, especially in agricultural engineering. He is credited with having done much to develop the mechanical tractor as a substitute for horses in farm work; and he has also developed new ideas in education. He was born in the United States in 1882, but was educated partly in Germany, at the Universities of Heidelberg and Freiburg. His mother's name was Zimmerman.]
