A RETURNED SOLDIER'S DEATH
10 THE EDITOR. Sir,—The daughter of the writer, when she read in your paper of the death of a returned soldier under circumstances of which he alone knew, suggested that the words before "of a soldier" should not be put in. Simply "Death of a (returned, i£ so) soldier" be used instead. No one knows why the unfortunate man, who risked his life for the lives of others, took the course he did, and I am sure that at the Judgment Seat he will be with those who have done their duty, without any addition to tho mode of death. It is no doubt a sad thing also for his parents or relatives to read. No one can tell what agonies the unfortunate may have suffered before seeking "the edge of the beyond." All we can say is "he endeavoured to do his duty, and may the Almighty have mercy on his soul.',' —I " WHO IS WITHOUT SIN? Bth June.
