NELSON, This Day. The flood damage at Brightwater \is far more.serious than at .first.reported. The Government's protectioh wall was carried away, and large aieas inundated. Some orchards were also swept away.

Railway traffic will be stopped for a 1 week" at least, owing to big washouts un the line. The immediate reinstatement of the protection wall is essential foi 1 t::d safety, of Brightwater.
