EASTER EGG SCHEME DIVERTED
NATIVES' ASSOCIATION TO THE
RESCUE.
■ In the matter of providing relief for the sufferers, the. New Zealand Natives' Association has arrived at the laudable decision to divert its Easter Egg scheme to that purpose instead of, as was originally proposed, to the establishment of n Soldiers' Memorial Fund. This latter has long been a cherished project of the association, but it is felt that the needs of the sufferers at Raetihi, Ohakune, and other places are more urgent. The scheme is to be inaugurated on Wednesday next, and on the following day the public will be asked to buy the "eggs." These will be in reality envelopes with the illustration of an egg on them. A ticket inside the envelope will denote tho nature and value ot the pri/.e. There will, be no blanks, and a guarantee is given that no prize will be of iess value than 6d. The majority of the prizes, however, will represent orders on local firms for goods of a much greater value, 'and included in them will be an order for a brand new latf.-st model Chevrolet car. On Wednesday night the envelopes containing tho priae. tickets wilt be mixed publicly on the premises of the Dominion Motor Vehicles. Ltd., Cour-tenay-place. There would seem to be little doubt that the "eggs" will eel) readily, and a substantial amount realised for the destitute ones of the devastated area.
It is the indention of the committee to extend the effort by making a tour of the Wairarapa district,.
