GOVERNMENT MEAT SHOP
NOT NOW NECESSARY.
In reply to an enquiry to-dny the Prime Minister stated that the new arrangement by which meat is supplied to any retailers iyho require it, and at the export price, has worked so satisfactorily that it is not now necessary to continue the Government connection with the butchers' business, which for twelve months has been run in the Government name in Auckland. Since the new arrangement came into operation the price of meat has been very considerably reduced in Auckland.
