DEMAND FOR SEASIDE HOUSES

_ With so many young men away at the Front it might be thought that seaside " baches " would be a drug in the market. Quite the contrary is the case. Houses at all the bays are in great demand, and are commanding high rents. A dwelling of any kind—from the unfurnished whare to the well-furnished house —is most, difficult to obtain. Perhaps one reason for this is that, with the abolition of excursion fares and the restriction of the ,train service, people are spending a month at the near seaside suburbs instead of travelling. Alsa one can under ordinary conditions have a much longer holiday: at less expense (a great consideration in these days) if hotel and railway bills are cut out.
