GOLDEN BAY CEMENT COMPANY
Captain M'Arthur presided at the tenth annual meeting of the Golden Bay Cement Company to-day. In moving the adoption of the annual report and balance-sheet (already published in The Post), tho Chairman said the year, _ on the whole, had been a very satisfactory one, considering the holding up of so many buildings by reason of the war, aad in whiclv buildings and other ' works cement would so largely enter. The company's works had been carried on with a shortage of labour, but without friction. He paid a warm tribute of praise to the managing director (Mr. W. M. Hannay), the works manager, and staff—who had worked extremely hard —and the .secretary—Mr. Boulton. They all hoped that the war would soon be over, so that the demand for the company's cement would again become active. The company, had done, he thought, quite as well as any other enterprise of its kind. The report and balance-sheet, were adopted. The meeting decided to pay a 5 per cent, dividend fov the year. Dr. C. Prendergast Knight and Mr George Wilson were re-elected directors.' the former predicting a busy time for all cement companies in Now Zealand as soon as the war was over.
