TAXATION
TO THE EDITOII. Sir, —I beg the favour of your columns to see if any member of Parliament can enlighten me on the great difference that exists in the present taxes.which are being imposed on the country. If a personputa, say, £20,000 into the War Loan, he is exempted from both income and war taxes. If a person puts £20,000 into land to keep up produce, thus enabling ourselves and others to get tilings cheap, he is taxed both ways. If on tho other hand, say an inventor forms a, company to carry out a new industry he is bul-dened right from the start. Do you think this is just and an encouragement to enterprise? I sa-y no.—l am, etc., ROCK OF YEARS. 15th September.
