Getting-in early! A short time ago the Napier Borough Council passed the ; following motion'in reference to an apj plication received :—" That Mr. J. Vigor Brown, having paid a deposit of £2 6s in anticipation of hiring the theatre for the rlay prior to the General Election, and the day prior to the municipal elections, and as 'this desposi! is not sufficient under the council's .regulations,-it is hereby agreed to return the amount of the deposit, stating at the same time' that the council will gladl.v accept, application for the- theatre if the day, date, and time are specified, and the usual deposit of 25 per cent, of the hire is made." Mr. J. Vigor Brown, M.P., has now written, to the council, acknowledging receipt of the council's letter cancelling his bookings of th<s theatre, and returning his deposit, also making application for the council to definitely book him the Municipal Theatre for a lecture on the fourth Tuesday in April, 1919, He returned the council's cheque as a deposit, and intimated that if that'amount was not siiffieient, he would pay the difference on ■ being advised of the total deposit required. The application was granted.
