A Gordon Highlander was billeted in a oerta-in town "down south," and the first morningl at breakfast he complained bitterly about his bed being hard.
"Do you know," retorted his landlady dramatically, "that tho Duke of Wellington slept in that same bed?"
"Oh, did ho?" retorted the Scot. "Nae wonder he wis- oa'ed the Iron "Duke!"
