JAPANESE FOR RUSSIA

GROUNDLESS REPORTS CIRCULATED

SUPPOSED TO BE OF ENEMY

OEIUIN.

(Received August 30, 2.30 p.m.)

LONDON, 29th August,

Groundless reports have been circulated in Paris that Japanese troops will soon arrive on the Russian front. It is believed that the reports are of enemy origin. It is difficult to see the object of the canard, but it was apparently hoped to cause disappointment when it was discovered that the reports were untrue, and possibly to create dissension between the Allies regarding the part each is playing in the war.
