REICHSTAG CRISIS
THE WAVERING CHANCELLOR,
(Received August 25, 3.20 p.m.)
AMSTERDAM, 24th August,
The Berlin Tageblatt reports that Yon Payer, the Progressive Leader, has issued an ultima-turn to Dr. Michaelis that he must unequivocally adhere to the basis of the Reichstag's peace resolution, otherwise he.will lose the support of the Majority parties.
This led to a second declaration by Dr. Michaelis, adhering to the resolution. Many newspapers assail him as a waverer who does not know his own mind. The Tageblatt says that the crisis is merely postponed.
