(>I mEGIUPU.—rRESS ASSOCIATION.) AUCKLAND, This Day. Obituary: Mr. Alfred Kidd, ex-M.P,

The late Mr. Alfred Kidd was born at Hounslow Heath, England, in 1851, a.nd arrived in Auckland at the age of 13 years. After serving on a farm and on the Thames goldfields he returned to Auckland, where for many years he conducted the Commercial Hotel. He served on various local bodies and was Mayor of Auckland for two years. He was' elected M.H.R. for Auckland City in 1902. and for Auckland Central in 1905. Later he was defeated for the latter constituency by Mr. A. E. Glover by a large majority. ,

The death is also announced of Colonel Henry Burton Pierce Lanigan, builder of the Calliope Dock.
