A SECOND TRIAL

THE RADCLIFFE CASE.

To-day the Supreme Court is engaged with the re-trial of Herbert Eaton Radcliffe, in whose case the jury last week failed to agree. Radcliffe is charged with having in September and October last stolen aims of money amounting to £185 odd, the property of the New Zealand Government. Radeliffe was, prior to his arrest, chief clerk in the Mines Departmeint, and has been for 32 years in the employ of the Government. His Honour Mr. Justice Hosking was on the bench, Mr. V. R. Meredith conducted the prosecution, and the accused was defended by Mr. T. M. Wilford.

The evidence given was the same as that of last week.

Counsel having addressed the Court, his Honour summed up, and the jury was considering its verdict when The Post went to press. (Proceeding.)
