The police raided the National Volunteers' headquarters at Belfast and elsewhere in Ulster and seized rifles.

An L-ish official message states : The seizure of arms in Ireland is due to the desire to prevent them falling into undesirable hands. The rifles will remain in military custody on behalf of their owners. *
