THE FLANDERS DUEL
UNABATED IN FURY
GERMANS EXPECT AN OFFENSIVE
(AUSTRALIAN-NEW ZEALAND OABLB ASSOCIATION.)
LONDON, 30th July.
The artillery duel on the Flanders front is unabated in fury. It is evident, that the Germans are expecting coining assaults, though Sir Douglas Haig still maintains a most significant silence. The almost continuous roar of the artillery is heard on the outskirts of London. Our air squadrons are everywhere seeking out the German batteries, exploding ammunition dumps, bombing reinforcements, and attacking German air squadrons, which sometimes comprise thirty machines. , . , Sir Douglas Haig reports further raiding and artillery activity, and particularly aerial activity, which prevailed until interrupted by a severe thunderstorm, ii> which four British machines were lost. Two others are missing. Six German aeroplanes were brought down.
