MAGISTRATE'S COURT
To-day's sitting of the Magistrate's Court was presided over by Mr. W. G. Riddoll, S.M., who dealt with miscellaneous cases, many of which are. reported under another heading. Two first-offend-ing inobriates were dealt with in the usual way. . /George William Jackson was charged with drunkenness, and also with committing a grossly indecent act in .Cambridgeterrace. Defendant pleaded not guilty, but the evidence was against him, On the charge of drunkenness, Jackson was convicted and discharged, while in respect of tho indecent act he was fined £3, with'the alternative of serving 14 days in gaol. Boing a first offender for drunkenness, William Stevens was convicted and discharged, while on a chaxge of resisting a constable while in the execution of his duty, he- was fined 40s, with the option of remaining, in gaol for seven days. . .
