The Right Hon. W. F. Massey will leave for Napier this evening, to attend the funeral of his sister, Mrs. Gow, wife of the Rev. Mr. Gow, who died yesterday after undergoing an operation. ;

Captain C. F. Post and Mr. J. M'Pherson, of the Transports Board, returned to Wellington by the Maori from the South to-day.

A motion tendering sincere sympathy to the Rev. A. O. Williams and Mr. J. G. A. Caatle, members of Synod, whose sons have laid down their lives for King and Empire, was carried by the Anglican Synod last night. The deceased soldiers wore both' lieutenants. -■ ;

Advice has (states The Post's Masterton correspondent) been received , that Private W. T. (Bob) Douglas, brother of Mr. Hugh Douglas, of Masterton, has been awarded 'the Distinguished ■ Conduct Medal. Private Douglas left New Zealand with the 4th Battalion of the, New Zealand Rifle Brigade. ■•■'..'

The funeral of the late Mr. Charles Hans Aamodt, of the City Solicitor's office, -took place this morning, and was largely attended. The chief mourners were deceased's second son, William Aamodt- (the eldest is at' the front), Messrs. Charles and James M'Keegan, Herbert G. Smith, Samuel G. Rosa, and Eobb (brothers-in-law). Amongst others present were the Mayors of Wellington (Mr. J. P. Luke, C.M.G.) and Miramar (Mr. F. Townsend), Mr. W. H. Field, M.P., the City Solicitor (Mr. J. O'Shea) and his staff, Mr. R. Tait (Assistant Town Clerk), Mr. John Duthie, formerly captain of, the old Wellington Guards, of -which company the deceased was for many years secretary, and also representatives, of the legal offices; in the City, together with a number of the old rifle shots in Wellington. The 1 service was conducted by the Rev. F. M. Kempthome. The. deceased was a son of the late Capt. C. H. Aamodt, of Wanganui, and was 58 years of age.
