ICE-CREAM BELOW STANDARD

Two confectioners were charged at the Magistrate's Court to-day with selling " adulterated " ice-cream. One ; defen-. dant was Ada Jansen, Star Buildings; Wellington South, whose product, when; examined' by the Government Analyst, was found to 1 contain only 8.3 per cent, milk fat, as against 10 per cent, fixed by the Act. Jane M'Millan, 197, Riddifordstreetj was charged with selling ice-cream below the standard in milk fat. Neither of the defendants appeared, and the evidence given was purely formal. In each case his Worship (Mr. T. E. M'Carthy, S.M.), imposed a fine of 10s, with 17s 6d expenses.
